The trip is designed for cyclists of all abilities, as well as those simply wishing to relax in beautiful surroundings while enjoying wonderful amenities. We’ll spend the first 2 nights near Palma, close to our local bike shop where we’ll pick up our rental bikes. An afternoon in Palma is optional, exploring La Seu (the cathedral, known as the symbol of Palma and a masterpiece of Catalan Gothic architecture), the Arab Baths, the royal palace, the fortress, and vibrant harbor. The historic old town boasts medieval courtyards and alleyways, while the busy central area has art-nouveau buildings, 19th century townhouses, and cultural exhibits. Shopping? Mallorca is known for its pearls and leather.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive at the Palma de Mallorca airport and transfer on your own to our hotel just south of Palma. We’ll pick up our rental bikes in the afternoon, and the maybe take a short ride or walk in the area to fend off jet lag before our group dinner at the hotel.

Day 2

Let’s bike! There are many options. The geography is mostly rolling and gentle (except for an occasional puig – short, steep hill). We can ride south through the interior of the island or along the coast south of Palma. Later, we may take a city bus or taxi to the city center to explore the cathedral and old town.

Days 3 - 5

On to Sineu! Our small hotel is in the center of the village. Sineu is an ancient, agricultural, hilltop town with over 1,000 years of history. There is a lively traditional market on Wednesdays. There are many small roads and camis throughout the interior of the island, offering quintessential Mallorcan scenery.

Days 6 - 8

Our next base will be the town of Pollensa with its bustling town center and an ancient Roman bridge nearby. Along the way our route will pass by vineyards, historic manor homes, and rural landmarks. On Monday we’ll do the legendary climb to Cap de Formentor, to the lighthouse.

Days 9 - 11

Days 9 - 11: Montuiri is located in the center of the Llanura del Centra, about 30 km east of Palma. The picturesque old town is an excellent base for exploring traditional rural villages surrounded by windmills. Motivated riders can venture into the mountains for epic rides with outstanding vistas. Our rental bikes will be picked up late in the afternoon on our final full day on the island. We’ll have a group farewell dinner at our hotel.

Day 12

Early transfer to the Palma airport.
